Harnessing Welsh Energy
About Llŷr 1 & 2
The Llŷr wind farms will be amongst the first floating offshore wind test and demonstration projects to be developed and constructed in the UK, showcasing the next generation in clean renewable offshore renewable energy technology.
Innovative floating wind technology will enable the Llŷr wind farms to be located in deeper water, and further offshore, minimising visual and environmental impacts whilst utilising the stronger and more consistent winds.
By unlocking new, higher energy capacities from deeper waters, further offshore, the Llŷr projects have huge potential opportunities for UK energy consumers. Not only will they help the UK meet its target for net zero emissions, but they will create new opportunities for regional manufacturing and supply chains in Wales and Southwest England as global demand for floating, offshore, wind increases.
